If you think someone else is using your WhatsApp account, inform your family and friends, as this person might impersonate you in chats and groups.

Take these steps immediately if you see that someone other than you is using your WhatsApp account. Never share your WhatsApp registration code with anyone, not even friends or family. If your phone is lost or stolen, or if you lose access to your account, follow the steps below to recover it.

It’s possible that someone may be accessing your account from a desktop or WhatsApp Web session you previously connected to. You should disconnect these sessions first to rule out any unauthorized access.

To log out of all devices:

1. Open WhatsApp.
2. Tap the three vertical dots at the top right, next to the search bar.
3. Select “WhatsApp Web.”
4. Log out of all devices.

If you confirm that no devices are linked but the issue persists, follow the steps below to recover a compromised WhatsApp account.

1. Log In with Your Phone Number

   – Use your phone number to log in.

   – Re-register by entering the 6-digit code sent to you via SMS or phone call.

2. Automatic Logout of Unauthorized User

   – Once you re-register with the code, anyone currently using your account will be automatically logged out.

   – Note that WhatsApp can only be linked to one phone number at a time.

3. Two-Step Verification PIN

   – You may need to enter a two-step verification PIN.

   – If you don’t have this PIN, the person using your account may have enabled two-step verification.

4. Waiting Period

   – If two-step verification is enabled, you will need to wait 7 days before logging in without the PIN.

   – Activate fingerprint or facial recognition for quick and secure access.

4. Exploring Additional Security Options

   – Check for other available security features on your device to further enhance your protection.

      5. Avoid Clicking on Malicious links and downloadable files from untrusted sources. 

3. LOST OR STOLEN PHONES, HOW DO I RECOVER MY ACCOUNT

If your device is lost or stolen:

1.  Contact Your Mobile Provider
– Call your mobile provider as soon as possible to block your SIM card.

2.  Get a New SIM Card
– Obtain a new SIM card with the same phone number.

3.  Re-register Your Phone Number
– Enter the 6-digit code you receive via SMS or phone call to re-register.

4.  Log Out of Lost Device
– Once you’ve re-registered your WhatsApp account on the new device, the lost or stolen device will be automatically logged out.
